Hum laaye hain toofaan se kashti nikaal ke: Anubhav Jain (Bank PO in Bank of Baroda)

Anubhav Jain, one of the bankersadda reader, has shared his success story with us. Please find below the unedited story -

Hi Team BA and My fellow readers,

My name is Anubhav Jain. I completed B.Tech (ECE) from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi in June 2012.

Due to some circumstances, I could not get any placement from the campus. So, I decided to try my hand at off-campus Placement Institutions like eLitmus. Took the pH test and scored 97.21 percentile in the first attempt. Everyone was optimistic about my getting a job through that exam. Now companies approached, I got calls for interviews, but in those days, I was not in a position to go outside Delhi as it was not long since my father had undergone a major heart surgery. So, I decided to take up a job at HCL BPO in June 2012. I got selected in a British Technical Support Process and continued to work there till March 2013.

It was during my job at HCL BPO that one of my batchmates suggested I should try for SBI Clerk as its registration was open during that time. But, like every other technical graduate, I was optimistic about getting a job in IT Industry and would not even register for any Clerical job. A few weeks later, another friend suggested I should register for IBPS Clerk2 as its registrations were open at that time. I feared they might ask Commerce/Economics related questions in Banking Exam. She informed me about the syllabus and the procedure. The pay Scale for Bank clerk is also better than what I was getting in HCL BPO after spending 4 hrs in the Cab(2 hrs each side) and toiling for 10 hrs in the office, and that too in day-night shiifts (1:30pm-11:30pm, 3:30pm-1:30am, 4:30pm-2:30am were my usual shift timings).

Hence, I decided to prepare for IBPS Clerk2. Ordered a couple of books from flipkart and prepared from IBPS PO Books and cleared the Exam as well as the interview with flying colours (I later came to know I stood 2nd in Delhi in that Exam) and got Posting in PNB, Dilshad Garden branch, not more than 500m from my home. I was on cloud 9! Once I started working there, I started enjoying my job. Soon, IBPS PO3 notification was out and I registered.

This time, I decided to gear myself up as I had learnt that Selection as a PO is way more difficult that selection as a Clerk. So, I took admission in Bank Power Laxmi Nagar Center and started taking classes on weekends(one class on Saturday after work and 3 classes on Sunday). Thus, I prepared for IBPS PO3 CWE and was delighted to know that I have cleared the Online Exam in the very 1st attempt with a good score of 94 marks. I thank the faculty of Bank Power Laxmi Nagar who guided me throughout the program and helped me achieve this feat. I again approached Bank Power Laxmi Nagar for preparation for IBPS PO Interview. There I enjoyed the Excellent guidance of Mr. Ravi Soni Sir, who helped us groom ourselves for the IBPS PO Interview and today, I feel immense pleasure to announce that I cleared the IBPS PO3 interview with 71 marks, bringing my Aggregate marks to 51.80.

At last, I would just like to say,- "Your destiny is what you make of it! Never blame anyone for your failures, but do thank them who helped you in your path to Glory!"

All the best!!!
