1.    VILIFY  (???????? ????) Meaning:  If you are vilified by someone, they say or write very unpleasant things about you, so that people will have a low opinion of you Example: He was vilified, hounded, and forced into exile by the FBI.

2.    PRATTLE(????????? ?? ?? ????-???? ??? ?? ???????) Meaning: If you say that someone prattles on about something, you are criticizing them because they are talking a great deal without saying anything important. Example: Archie, shut up, you are prattling.

3.    ERUDITE (??????) Meaning: If you describe someone as erudite, you mean that they have or show great academic knowledge, you can also use erudite to describe something such as a book or a style of writing. Example: He was never dull, always erudite and well informed.

4.    LUGUBRIOUS (????) Meaning: If you say that someone or something is lugubrious, you mean that they are sad rather than lively or cheerful. Example: a tall, thin man with a along and lugubrious face.

5.    PETTIFOGGING Meaning: You can describe an action or situation as pettifogging when you think that unnecessary attention is being paid to unimportant, boring details Example: � pettifogging bureaucratic interference.

6.    EPISTLE (????)   Meaning: An epistle is a letter.

7.    VINDICTIVE Meaning:  If you say that someone is vindictive, you are critical of them because they deliberately try to upset or cause trouble for someone who they think has done them harm, Example:  a vindictive woman desperate for revenge against the man who loved and left her.

8.    TRANSGRESS (??????? ????) Meaning: If someone transgresses, they break a moral law or a rule of behavior. Example: IF a politican transgresses, that is not the fault of the media.

9.    ALLEVIATE (?? ????) Meaning: If you alleviate pain, suffering, or an unpleasant condition, you make it less intense or severe. Example: Nowadays, a great deal can be done to alleviate back pain.

10.  ARMISTICE (??????????) Meaning: An armistice is an agreement between countries who are at war with one another to stop fighting and to discuss ways of making peace. Example: Finally, the Bolsheviks signed an armistice with Germany.
